Meet the men and women behind the Pareto Notes

Zigfred Maceren Diaz together with his classmates started the Lex Pareto Notes during their senior year in the college of law at Southwestern University. His college freshman and sophomore years were spent at the college of engineering at the University of Sto Tomas in Manila. Later on he transferred to the Cebu Institute of Technology and graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He finished his elementary and high school at Bob Hughes Christian academy and graduated as the most outstanding student of the batch. He is currently the Vice president for Operations for the Diaz group of companies, a group of family owned companies with business interest in Funeral servicing, casket manufacturing, funeral supplies, memorial care and education.  He is into private practice with the Law offices of Loon, Diaz and Ouano, and is also currently teaching at the Southwestern University School of Law. He is also a licensed Real Estate and Financial broker. He is a member of The Bible Baptist Church of Cebu City. With His God given ability to lead, he has been a youth leader for several years in the youth department of his church and is occasionally a featured speaker in various religious radio programs and churches across the country.  His current studies involved pursuing an integrated program for a Masters Degree in Divinity and Doctorate in Ministry with the Trinity Graduate School of Theology and Apologetics.  Zigfred is happily married to Zenith Gerodias Diaz, a licensed Social worker. They have a son, Zed Avalon Diaz. Currently they are residing at Talisay City, Cebu. Louella Arreglo Matsumoto graduated from law school at the Southwestern University on 2006. On the same year, she took and passed the bar examinations. Louella hails from Mandaue City, Cebu. She finished her elementary and high school education at the Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion. She obtained her B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering at the University of San Carlos. She was employed as the Production Planning and Inventory Control Section Head of a PEZA-registered Japanese manufacturing company in Mactan. Subsequently, she left for Japan where she acquired her written and oral proficiency in the Japanese language through a two-year intensive Japanese Language course. She passed the 1996 Japanese Language Proficiency Test - Level 1 held in Tokyo. After returning home to the Philippines, she worked at the Consular Office of Japan in Cebu.  Recently, she was interviewed for a Japanese daily newspaper to relate her personal experience in taking the bar examinations. She believes that when you wholeheartedly trust and remember the Lord in everything you do, He will surely show you the way.   “Loi”, as she is fondly called by her family and friends, is happily married to Shigeki Matsumoto. She is currently staying in a Spanish-speaking country in Central America to assist her husband in a volunteer work mission. They will hopefully be back in Cebu on 2008.

Helenytte Yu hails from Roxas City Capiz. She is the daughter of business parents, Hernan and Haydee Yu. A jolly and loquacious person, she has lived independently since high school in pursuit of furthering her Chinese education. She obtained her bachelor's degree major in Political science from the Dela Salle University. She was one of the participants in the "Summer sa Senado Program" of Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago. During her law school days She had been active in the bar operations as Hotel Accommodation and Fund Raising Activities Head. Presently, she has her own business and is the regional head of the Filipino-Chinese Catholic Youth.

Danell Maravillas Fernandez is the eldest among the other siblings of Julius and Lourdes Fernandez. He was originally from Vallehermoso, Oriental Negros and it is there where he took his elementary education. When he was in 3rd year high school at Colegio de Sto. Tomas Recoletos at San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, he decided to enter the seminary of the Order of the Augustinian Recollects. Upon finishing college with the degree of Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy at Casiciaco Recoletos Seminary at Baguio City, it dawned on him that priesthood was not for him so he changed course. He then pursued Bachelor of Laws at Silliman University at Dumaguete City but finished said degree at Southwestern University at Cebu City on 2006. Now married, he is currently living with his son, aged 4 months, Linus Ven and wife Ma. Kristina at Bayawan City.

Al Rey Igot Ouano is the son of Engr. Oscar Perez Ouano and Dr. Corazon Igot Ouano.  He just recently passed the 2006 bar exams. He reviewed in Jurist review located in Las Pinas Metro Manila. He was a graduate of law of Southwestern University. He is the eldest of five boys namely Michael Czar, Philip Charles, Pierre and Oscar Jr. He finished his elementary education at St. Alphonsus Catholic School and his high school at the Don Bosco Missionary Seminary. He got his degree in Bachelor of Science in Biology at Velez College. Initially, after graduation he decided to become a doctor at Cebu Doctors College of Medicine and took up medicine but later on decided to take up law instead. He is currently residing at the 2nd floor of Our Lady of the Rule Hospital, 2085 Humay-humay Street Lapu-lapu City, Pajo. Cebu City Philippines. He is currently privately practicing with the Law offices of Loon, Diaz and Ouano.

Maria Salud Dionaldo Barillo, is a law graduate of Southwestern University, Cebu City, Philippines. The word “Salud” means health or healthy in Spanish. Salud hails from Guihulngan, Oriental Negros. She is the youngest daughter of Judge Hector Barillo and Mrs. Victoria Dionaldo Barillo. She finished her Elementary at Guihulngan South Central School and her High School at St. Paul’s University in Dumaguete City. She spent her college days at Cebu Doctors’ University.  “Salud” as she is commonly called is currently residing at Guadalupe, Cebu City. She is a member of Jesus Restoration Ministries. This lady is now a licensed Medical Technologist, who desires to make a difference in the field of law having righteousness and justice as her guiding principle. She believes that God is the Supreme Judge who will ultimately bring justice to all.  “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” - (Proverbs 18:15)  

Maria Patricia Katrina De Guia or simply known as “Trish” to her friends, is a recent bar passer (2007) and was an asset to her university during her time. As she was a student council officer, she represented the school in various sinter-school activities. She spearheaded a book launching of different law books by her professors as well as served as the editor-in-chief of her batch year book, The Invictus. Trish was also active and held positions in the Bar operations. Apart from that, she was also involved in organizing non-law related activities such as school parties, outreach programs, sports fests. At present she is the managing partner of an investment firm.

Nolito Morales Dayanan was born and raised in Davao Oriental. He finished his elementary education at the Carcar (Cebu) elementary school. His high school education was completed at Our Lady’s academy in his hometown. He decided to enroll in seminary and spent 3 years at the San Carlos Seminary college. For personal reasons, he decided to pursue his studies at the University of San Carlos and graduated with a degree in AB Philosophy.  “Nholie” as his friends call him is an avid chess player. He is a silver medalist in the 2004, 2005 SIGLAKAS. (SWU intramurals) He is an active member of several school organizations such as the Bar operations, Mock bar committee and the Lex review committee. He also had opportunity to serve as chairman of the Lex review committee.
